Swiss-Italian DJ and producer Andrea Oliva debuts on Hot Creations with the 2-track 12 inches “We Trust,” which delivers two originals, the title track and “Soho Nights” on the reverse.
The propulsive “We Trust” takes care and modulates Tech House patterns in the most efficient way. A female vocal loop, with a natural conversational tone, goes along a drum sequence enriched by hi-hats and bass, layered to knock into a shape of a warm and unstoppable conglomerate. Then you get the advice for trusting in the turn of the knobs, in a fearless breakdown to distort. It takes you back in time for a while (is there any tendency to recuperate acid?), but an integrated core yields for an updating crescendo where distortion is being cleared up by the trusted voice. It’s a subtle kind of Club Classic, with a narrative on it. Andrea Oliva debuted on Hot Creations for a reason. And this is the perceptive editorial policy of the imprint run by Jamie Jones and Lee Foss.
The flipped “Soho Nights” is also warm and enthusiastic, bound for a contrasted and terraced stand by the sea. Cheer up for hot long summer nights that keep us away from “foghorns” in between. Shipped to dissipate any blurred thought, to enjoy.
Not for nothing, Andrea Oliva is demanded favorite in the Ibiza (Eïvissa) scene, from now until the end of August. He’s going to be for the warm up to annual ANTS party at Ushuaïa and an almost permanent guest on the Eric Prydz’ Tuesday residency at Hï Ibiza.
